This Manual is primarily focused on the process description of Vat Leaching and elution processes related to gold extraction, tailored for stakeholders and miners seeking a comprehensive overview of the methodologies involved. The objective is to elucidate the essential information necessary for the process design stage, while highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of Vat Leaching compared to Tank Leaching. Information presented in this report is applicable to various miners, particularly those engaged in small-scale operations that have opted for the more cost-effective Vat Leaching (VL) due to capital constraints. The methodology incorporates an analysis of traditional batch processes and contemporary practices, offering insights into operational efficiency and economic viability in the context of Tanzania, which ranks as the fourth largest gold producer in Africa. The report aims to provide clarity on the technological advancements and historical significance of vat leaching, emphasizing its enduring role in the gold mining industry, particularly for small-scale miners in regions like Geita.
