This paper introduces a novel methodology for assessing the technical condition of high-voltage switchyard devices, particularly circuit breakers, disconnectors, and instrument transformers, within high-voltage switching bays. The objective is to enhance maintenance strategies for transmission system operator (TSO) assets through the implementation of predictive maintenance techniques. Utilizing an automated assessment process that integrates multiple and additive criteria reflecting both maintenance actions and the operational history of devices, the study develops a new data model that generates a c-curve indicating the condition trajectory of each device or device type. This model leverages real-time data from maintenance information systems, enabling timely evaluations of a device's technical state before scheduled maintenance. The results indicate that the proposed methodology supports strategic maintenance planning and prioritization, enhancing the overall effectiveness of maintenance for high-voltage switching yard equipment. The methodology has been experimentally implemented by TSO ELES, demonstrating its applicability and effectiveness in real-world scenarios.
