2026enflotationmineral processingengineering

Abstract

Language:

This chapter reviews the design and operating characteristics of various commercial flotation machines. The objective is to provide design and process engineers with essential knowledge regarding the selection criteria for different types of machines based on their specific applications. The methodology includes a systematic examination of flotation machine functionalities and a straightforward procedure for calculating the required cell volumes for roughing and cleaning circuits. The results demonstrate the importance of maintaining particle suspension, appropriate aeration, and promoting efficient particle-bubble collisions within flotation cells to optimize mineral recovery and efficiency. Additionally, the chapter discusses challenges like sanding-up of cells and provides insights into preventing particle segregation to enhance overall flotation performance.
