In recent years, the copper smelting industry has been challenged by the need to increase cleaner smelting capacities while adhering to stricter environmental regulations and social responsibilities. This paper aims to present updates on the technological advancements in sonic injection in sulphide bath smelting as a solution to these challenges. Utilizing a review of recent literature and industry practices, the methodology involved an analysis of various copper processing technologies and their efficiency in reducing environmental impacts while maintaining production levels. The results indicate that implementing sonic injection technology can enhance the smelting process by improving gas dispersion, increasing recovery rates, and minimizing off-gas emissions. Furthermore, these technologies allow smelters to process lower-quality concentrates more effectively, meeting the dual demands of productivity and environmental compliance. This update serves to inform industry stakeholders about the potential benefits and operational efficiencies achieved through the integration of sonic injection methods in copper smelting processes.
