The study aims to determine the hydrogeochemical evolution of uranium ore and identify the water/rock interaction processes controlling the dissolved uranium content in the Mina Fe uranium-ore deposit, the largest in Spain. Located in the Sageras area, this deposit was minimally affected by exploration activities from 20 years ago. This research focused on the area northeast of Ciudad Rodrigo, examining the mineralization associated with faults in a complex of schist and graywacke. Primary uranium minerals present include uraninite and coffinite, with secondary minerals resulting from weathering processes. Groundwater dynamics are influenced by regional topography, primarily recharging in surrounding mountains and discharging in local rivers. Analysis of 35 boreholes at depths of 50 to 150 m revealed calcium-bicarbonate type waters with a slightly reduced redox potential. Dissolved uranium levels were found to reach a maximum of 7.7 mg/L. The findings suggest that the mineral closest to equilibrium in this context is UO2(am), indicating a relationship between mineral equilibrium processes and the concentrations of dissolved uranium in this region.
