Abstract

Language:

This study evaluates the electrochemical behavior of zinc flake systems in comparison to traditional electroplated zinc coatings. The objective was to determine the corrosion resistance and protective capabilities of zinc flake coatings under various conditions. A series of electrochemical tests were conducted to analyze the corrosion products formed in both systems. The results indicated that corrosion products associated with zinc flake coatings provide strong inhibition against further corrosion, significantly enhancing their protection performance. Compared to electroplated zinc, zinc flake systems not only exhibited superior corrosion resistance but also impeded cathodic oxygen reduction, further contributing to their efficacy. The findings highlight the advantages of using zinc flake coatings, particularly in industrial applications requiring high corrosion resistance, such as automotive components, where coatings must withstand challenging environments. This research underscores the potential of zinc flake systems as a preferred choice for protective coatings in various engineering applications.
