The study aims to optimize the treatment of acid mine drainage (AMD) using membrane technology, addressing a crucial environmental challenge. The objective is to enhance the efficiency of membrane filtration processes to reduce the contaminants present in AMD. A series of experimental investigations were conducted, utilizing various membrane materials and configurations to assess their effectiveness in treating AMD. The methodology involved analyzing the performance of different membranes under varying operational conditions and measuring the removal rates of heavy metals and acidity. Results from the experiments demonstrated that certain membranes exhibited superior filtration capabilities, significantly lowering concentrations of contaminants while maintaining high permeate flux. The findings contribute valuable insights into the application of membrane technology as a feasible solution for the sustainable management of AMD, highlighting the potential for technology transfer in related environmental applications. This study not only advances the understanding of membrane performance in treating AMD but also sets the groundwork for further research in optimizing membrane systems for industrial applications.
