The comprehensive scientific development of conventional industrial technologies stimulates the creation of new ones in the next generation. The objective of this study was to investigate the application of sodium carbonate slag in copper refining, particularly focusing on the reduction of impurity content in molten copper. The methodology involved fundamental studies and the development of a calculation method for determining the distribution ratios of impurity elements between sodium carbonate slag and molten copper. Results indicated that the specific treatment with sodium carbonate slag effectively reduces each impurity content in molten copper to the level of 0.1 mass ppm, necessary for producing high purity copper. This evaluation method builds on previous theories proposed by notable researchers in the field. The findings contribute to enhancing the efficiency and purity of copper refining processes amid decreasing high-grade copper ore availability.
