This study explores the untapped mineral potential within Nevada's heap-leach facilities, emphasizing their significance in bolstering resource security for the United States. The objective is to identify and assess the mineral resources available in these facilities and to propose pathways that could enhance the domestic supply of critical minerals. A comprehensive analysis was conducted, incorporating geological assessments, resource estimations, and an evaluation of the economic viability of extraction methods. The results reveal a substantial and largely unexploited inventory of valuable minerals, which presents a unique opportunity for the United States to reduce dependence on foreign sources. It is determined that leveraging these resources could not only strengthen national resource security but also promote sustainable mining practices. The findings highlight the need for strategic initiatives to tap into these resources, in alignment with broader sustainability goals and environmental considerations. The paper discusses the implications of this research for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and environmental advocates, calling for collaboration and investment in the exploration and extraction of these critical minerals.
