This report presents research conducted under the AISI/DOE Technology Roadmap Program focusing on the removal of residual elements in steel during the ladle processing phase. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a combination of top slag practices and deep injection methods to enhance element removal. The methodology involved various injection trials that tested different materials and equipment for optimal performance in the steel ladle. Detailed chemical analyses and results from these trials are discussed, illustrating the interaction between injection techniques and residual element reduction. Findings indicate that implementing the proposed combination method significantly improves the efficiency of residual element removal in steelmaking processes, leading to higher quality steel products. Additionally, the report includes recommendations for future research directions to refine these techniques further.
