The Hall-H´ eroult process is a complex electrolysis method for aluminum production, which faces challenges due to extreme operational conditions that hinder continuous measurement of key parameters. This paper aims to provide a modeling and estimation approach for alumina concentration and anode-cathode distance, leveraging available measurements. Initially, a state affine model is derived through a combination of physical-chemical relationships and system identification techniques. Subsequently, a linear Kalman observer is designed to estimate the required signals. The efficacy of the proposed method is validated on an industrial platform, demonstrating its effectiveness in overcoming the difficulties associated with measuring critical values in the aluminum electrolysis process.
