This study investigates the volatilization of rhenium from molybdenite concentrate through oxidative roasting. The objective was to examine the transformation of rhenium and molybdenum compounds under roasting conditions. Methodology involved using 10% excess slaked lime over the stoichiometric requirement at a roasting temperature of 600 °C for 2 hours. The results indicate that molybdenum within the concentrate could be converted into calcium molybdate at relatively low temperatures. However, the transformation of rhenium to calcium perrhenate necessitated higher temperatures to occur. These findings contribute to the understanding of rhenium and molybdenum recovery processes from concentrates, supporting the efficient utilization of resources containing these valuable elements.
