This study aims to evaluate the anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant activities of Ficus sur stem-bark, a species traditionally used in folk medicine across Africa. The methodology involved extracting bioactive compounds from the stem-bark followed by a series of in vitro assays to assess its biological activities. The results indicated that Ficus sur exhibited significant anti-inflammatory effects, with a marked inhibition of inflammatory cytokines. Additionally, the antimicrobial assays revealed potent activity against various bacterial strains, suggesting its potential as a natural antimicrobial agent. Furthermore, the antioxidant assays showed substantial free radical scavenging capacity, highlighting the importance of Ficus sur as a source of natural antioxidants. These findings support the traditional uses of Ficus sur in treating various ailments and suggest its therapeutic potential in modern medicine. Future research may focus on isolating specific compounds responsible for these activities and understanding their mechanisms of action.
