The continuous casting of steel is a critical process in steel manufacturing, aimed at improving production efficiency and product quality. This study investigates the formation of fold-type oscillation marks that can occur during this casting process. The objective is to develop a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms that lead to these marks, thereby facilitating the optimization of the casting process. A mathematical modeling approach is employed, integrating asymptotic analysis to predict the conditions that favor the formation of oscillation marks. The results indicate that certain parameters of the casting process, such as the oscillation frequency and amplitude, significantly influence the development of these marks. Experimental validation is conducted to confirm the predictions of the model, showing a strong correlation between the theoretical findings and observed phenomena. Ultimately, this research provides insights that could enhance the quality control measures during steel casting processes, potentially leading to reduced defects and improved final product characteristics.
