This document explores the intricacies of electricity supply systems, focusing specifically on conductor materials used in electrical wiring and the parallel operation of feeder lines. The main objective is to assess the implications of using different conductor materials—aluminium and copper—when connecting cables in parallel for load supply. The methodology includes calculations for core currents, power losses, supply voltage requirements, and impedance characteristics under varying load conditions. Results illustrate that while aluminium conductors are cost-effective, they result in higher power losses due to their greater resistivity compared to copper conductors. The implications of adhering to compliance issues were also discussed, reflecting pertinent standards such as AS/NZS 3000. Additionally, the performance characteristics of parallel feeder circuits were analyzed, including calculations for feeder currents, apparent power, and power factors, showcasing detailed results in matrix format. Conclusions drawn emphasize both the advantages and disadvantages of using aluminium and copper cables in parallel systems, reinforcing the importance of material selection in the design and operation of electricity supply infrastructures.
