Abstract

Language:

This thesis investigates the measurement of voltage distribution on high voltage suspension insulator strings under polluted conditions, focusing on the implications of environmental factors on electrical performance. The objective is to understand how pollution affects insulator behavior and ultimately impacts power system reliability. To achieve this, a series of experimental setups were conducted, simulating polluted environments and measuring voltage distribution across insulator strings using specific methodologies. Data collection involved applying DC voltage to insulators subjected to varying levels of pollutants and analyzing the resultant electrical performance metrics. The results revealed significant variations in voltage distribution patterns, indicating that pollution notably influences the performance of insulators. Furthermore, insights on the insulation mechanisms in polluted conditions were provided, contributing to the knowledge base for designing more resilient insulator systems. This work emphasizes the necessity of considering environmental factors in the design and testing of high voltage equipment to ensure sustained reliability in power delivery systems.
