This lab experiment focuses on Ohm’s Law, which describes the relationship between current, voltage, and resistance in electrical circuits. The objective of the experiment is to determine the resistance of various resistors while also familiarizing students with the resistor color code and enhancing their graphing skills. The methodology involves connecting ammeters and voltmeters in the correct configurations to measure current and voltage across different resistors. As voltage is varied, the corresponding current is recorded to enable the calculation of resistance for Ohmic resistors, while non-Ohmic resistors, such as light bulbs, are evaluated for deviations from Ohm's Law. Results demonstrate the direct proportionality of current and voltage for Ohmic materials and provide a practical understanding of resistance and power calculations. Additionally, the experiment includes an examination of the effects of electric current on the human body, emphasizing safety considerations in experimental setups. This comprehensive approach reinforces theoretical knowledge through hands-on experience, enabling students to acquire a deeper understanding of electrical principles.
