In the era of globalization, effective information retrieval across multiple languages is essential for accessing diverse knowledge sources. The objective of this study is to investigate the methodologies used in cross-language information retrieval (CLIR) and evaluate their effectiveness in multilingual environments. We conducted an extensive review of existing CLIR systems and frameworks, followed by empirical testing using multiple datasets composed of documents in various languages. The methodology involved the analysis of performance metrics such as precision, recall, and F1 score to assess the capabilities of these systems in retrieving relevant information for user queries. Our results demonstrate significant variations in performance depending on the language pairs and retrieval strategies employed, with some methodologies outperforming others. The findings also highlight the importance of incorporating language-specific features and contextual understanding to improve retrieval outcomes. This study contributes valuable insights that can aid researchers and practitioners in developing more effective CLIR systems, ultimately enhancing information access for users in multilingual settings.
