This study explores the adverse effects of soil contamination by heavy metals on agricultural land in Slovakia. The objective is to assess the contamination levels of harmful elements and their implications for agriculture and public health. Utilizing a comprehensive evaluation across 63 districts, the methodology involves analyzing soil samples for the presence of hazardous metals including As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn. The results indicate significant levels of contamination posing risks to both the environment and the food chain. The findings highlight the necessity for remedial strategies to mitigate the transport of pollutants into crops, thereby safeguarding the health of the population living near contaminated sites. Additionally, the study underscores the importance of societal attitudes towards land protection and the implementation of effective environmental management practices to improve soil quality and the overall ecosystem.
