Abstract

Language:

This paper investigates the structural aspects of a + β' brass types with antifriction properties, which are categorized as high-tensile brasses. These alloys, containing copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn), also incorporate various alloying materials to enhance specific characteristics. It was observed that the addition of these elements alters the equilibrium diagram limits, impacting the phase existence areas. The research establishes zinc equivalence coefficients of the significant alloying elements to predict the alloy’s structure. The study analyzes the brasses used in manufacturing synchronous rings and mobile cones for Dacia Logan cars. The chemical composition of this quality brass includes aluminum, manganese, and silicon as alloying elements. It is noted that aluminum and silicon can decrease the amount of the α alloy phase while increasing tensile breaking strength and corrosion resistance. Furthermore, it is considered that the antifriction properties result from hot plastic deformation processes, contributing to a finely dispersed structural composition. This structure improves mechanical properties essential for applications focused on synchronization, wear, and friction in mobile cones operation.
