The extraction of vanadium from mechanically activated converter slag was studied using dilute sulfuric acid solution. This research aimed to investigate the impact of various roasting and leaching parameters on vanadium dissolution. A systematic approach was adopted to evaluate the effects of factors such as the Ca/V mole ratio, roasting temperature, leaching temperature, solid-to-liquid ratio, and leaching duration. Results indicated that while the aforementioned parameters significantly influenced vanadium dissolution, roasting time demonstrated only minor effects. It was found that excessively high roasting temperatures and inappropriate Ca/V mole ratios negatively impacted vanadium extraction. Optimal roasting conditions were identified as 800 °C for 60 min with a 1:1 Ca/V mole ratio, while ideal leaching conditions were determined to be a pH of 2.5, a temperature of 60 °C, a 20:1 liquid-to-solid ratio, a particle size of —150 mesh, and leaching durations of 40 to 80 min. Under these optimal conditions, over 90% of vanadium was successfully leached from the converter slag.
