A tundish is a device from which liquid steel is poured into a mold, and its hydrodynamic conditions significantly impact solidification during the continuous steel casting (CSC) process. This study aims to analyze how modifying the ladle shroud workspace affects liquid steel movement in a one-strand tundish. Numerical simulations were performed to determine the impact of the ladle shroud modification on the flow structure of liquid steel. The simulations assessed the percentage share of stagnant, ideal mixing, and plug flow zones, as well as mixing parameters to estimate casting duration during sequential casting. Flow fields of liquid steel for each ladle shroud modification were generated, and key parameters including average velocity, Reynolds number, and turbulent intensity were described. Results indicated that introducing three cylinders with a diameter of 0.041 m into the ladle shroud with a diameter of 0.11 m enhances active flow in comparison to the conventional ladle shroud. Furthermore, utilizing a ladle shroud with a diameter of 0.11 m during casting proved most beneficial for the hydrodynamics of the tundish.
