This study investigates the potential of bagasse-derived carbon activated using water vapor for the adsorption of methylene blue, a common dye pollutant. The objective was to enhance the adsorption performance of carbon obtained from bagasse, a waste product from sugarcane processing. The methodology involved carbonizing bagasse at 600 °C under nitrogen flow to produce activated carbon, followed by evaluating its adsorption capacity for methylene blue in a series of experiments. Results indicated a significant increase in adsorption capacity, achieving a notable removal efficiency for methylene blue, thus demonstrating the viability of using bagasse as a sustainable source for activated carbon production. The findings suggest that this approach not only contributes to waste management but also offers an effective solution for dye removal in wastewater treatment applications.
