Abstract

Language:

Sulfosuccinates are anionic surfactants derived from maleic anhydride, comprising mono- and dialkyl esters produced through a two-step process. These compounds find extensive utilization across various industries, notably in fiber technology, agriculture, and household products. The dialkyl esters exhibit weak foaming properties and excellent wetting power, making them suitable for applications such as spinning oils in nylon production and pesticide formulations in crop protection. Additionally, they are employed in paint formulations and the leather industry as well as in consumer products like glass cleaners and carpet shampoos. Conversely, sulfosuccinic acid monoalkyl esters demonstrate superior foaming characteristics and exceptional skin compatibility, making them favorable for personal care products, including shower gels and shampoos. This report highlights the role of both the mono- and dialkyl sulfosuccinates as emulsifiers specifically for emulsion polymerization, underlining their significance in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of polymerization processes.
