The manufacture of steel tubes, employed across a multitude of applications, necessitates a diverse array of production processes. The primary objective of this study is to classify and evaluate the various techniques utilized in steel tube production, focusing on welded and seamless processes. A comprehensive methodology is employed to examine the key manufacturing processes, specifically Electric Resistance Welding (ERW) and Furnace Butt Welding for welded tubes, as well as the piercing, elongation, and sizing processes for seamless tubes. The results of this evaluation reveal significant advancements in welding technology, leading to improved production and quality factors in welded tubes, while also highlighting the developments in seamless processes which enhance yield, wall thickness tolerance, and the ability to manufacture a wider variety of steel grades. Ultimately, the findings suggest that both welded and seamless tube technologies have their own advantages and limitations; thus, the choice of technology must align with specific end-use requirements, indicating that both types of tubes may be suitable for certain applications.
