A study of release, migration, sorption and (re)precipitation of uranium (U) during alteration under oxidizing conditions was carried out on U minerals from a granite and hydrothermal quartz veins. U-bearing minerals can be related to precipitation from faults or solubilization and remobilization of minerals by meteoric waters. The hot meteoric fluids dissolved uraninite, coffinite, thorite, and others in the granite and also interacted with minerals like apatite, monazite, and xenotime in the quartz veins. These fluids played a crucial role in the growth of U-bearing minerals within the hydrothermal quartz veins, either through adsorption or precipitation mechanisms. This process of neoformation, associated with weathering, may represent a significant pathway for U concentration. The findings provide insights into the complex behaviors of U chemistries in geological formations and their implications for environmental management related to mining activities.
