Abstract

Language:

Trends in developing Ukraine’s metallurgy highlight the potential for mining hematite quartzite deposits. This study aims to develop a technology for dry and wet concentration of hematite quartzite from the Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Basin. A comprehensive methodology was utilized, including generalization of existing research data, chemical and mineral analysis of ore and concentration products, as well as mathematical modeling of processes. The results indicated that both magnetic and gravitation separation techniques are effective for hematite ore concentration. The research achieved sintering ore with a Fe content of 55.1% and produced concentrates with Fe levels between 62.32% and 64.69%. Notably, the extraction of iron in marketable products ranged from 73.6% to 80.49%. The study introduces novel technologies for both dry and wet concentration processes specifically tailored for hematite quartzites in the Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Basin. Importantly, it proposes the use of magnetic separation for hematite ore concentration for the first time, leading to an over 40% reduction in ore grinding front compared to initial measurements and more than a 30% decrease in operation and capital expenses.
