The concept of power is central to political theory and social discourse, often perceived as a relational and dynamic force that shapes human interactions and societal structures. This paper aims to explore the multifaceted nature of power, drawing upon various theoretical perspectives, particularly those of Elster and Foucault. The methodology includes a theoretical analysis of existing literature on power, focusing on its features such as relationality, marginality, bilaterality, and dynamism. The findings indicate that power is not merely repressive but also productive, operating at multiple levels of social relations. Furthermore, Lukes’ definition of power highlights the complexities involved in power relations and the ambivalence of resistance, suggesting that attempts to oppose power may inadvertently reinforce it. The paper concludes that ongoing scholarly debates about power are vital for understanding its evolving nature in contemporary society, emphasizing the importance of recognizing resistance as a necessary response to challenge and transform entrenched power dynamics.
