Abstract

Language:

Water from rivers is often characterized by variable compositions influenced by the environmental factors along its flow path. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Calcium Hydroxide in purifying river water through a continuous flowing process. A gang stirrer operating at 12 rpm facilitated the investigation of different Calcium Hydroxide dosages and their impact on water purity. The optimal dosage derived from jar test analysis was determined to be the 20% alkaline stock solution, resulting in a pH of 7.30, total dissolved solids (TDS) of 38.38 mg/l, a temperature of 28°C, and viscosity of 1400.7 ps. The customized water treatment pilot plant utilized ratio-controlled mechanisms to enhance water quality, employing regulated valve operations for continuous treatment. Data analysis indicated a correlation between flow rates of the main stream and doping concentrations using Aspen Hyss simulation, with rigorous evaluations providing predictive insights for subsequent flow rates. This mechanism and the identified relationships hold potential for integrating other chemical treatments in continuous water processing systems.
