Abstract

Language:

The treatment of copper-gold ores presents significant challenges due to the interaction between copper minerals and cyanide leach solutions, which complicates gold recovery. This study seeks to elucidate the specific mechanisms behind this interaction, focusing on the role of various copper minerals such as azurite and chalcocite, whose dissolution in cyanide exacerbates the consumption of cyanide and can lead to gold loss through cementation processes. An examination of the effects of solution pH and cyanide concentration reveals their critical influence on the behavior of copper-cyanide species, thereby impacting the efficacy of gold extraction methods. Through a detailed analysis of these operating conditions, the study proposes several treatment processes designed to mitigate copper-gold interactions and improve the separation of copper from mixed cyanide solutions. The findings indicate that managing the chemical environment of the leaching process is essential to enhance gold recovery while reducing cyanide usage, offering practical implications for the sustainable processing of copper-gold ores in mining operations.
