Abstract

Language:

Provide students with the basic knowledge needed to understand the most common mechanisms and the main topics in machine dynamics. The course covers fundamental kinematic notions, kinematic pairs and chains, articulated systems, three-bar mechanisms, Cardan joints, cams, rolling transmissions, planetary systems, and both planar and spatial gear trains. It also treats friction (static, kinetic, and rolling resistance), fixed and movable joints, bearings, clearances, brakes, clutches, couplings, and flexible links such as belts and chains. In dynamics, the course addresses equivalent masses, inertia forces, balancing, irregular motion (flywheels), and critical speeds.
