Abstract

Language:

Conventional methods for precious metals gravimetric concentration involve various equipment including shaking tables, centrifuging concentrators, jigs, and trommels. Elutriation emerges as a less commonly utilized yet efficient and low-cost separation technique. This study aims to compare gold concentration by elutriation from four different precious metal-bearing ores: oxide ore, sulfide matrix ore, free disseminated precious metal ore, and a clay-rich black sand material. The investigation demonstrated that the highest recoveries were achieved from the free disseminated ore and black sands, attaining gold recoveries of 70% and 96%, respectively, along with significant concentration ratios. These findings underscore the potential of elutriation as an effective method for gold extraction from diverse ore types, providing insights for future applications in precious metals metallurgy.
