Abstract

Language:

The increasing demand for energy necessitates a thorough understanding of the various available energy sources and their environmental implications. This ebook is aimed primarily at higher secondary school students, providing a foundational overview of energy sources, their efficient utilization, and the associated environmental concerns. The objective of the work is to present the material in an accessible manner, enabling learners to engage with complex topics related to energy production and consumption. The methodology includes a series of chapters authored by members of the National Centre for Catalysis Research, each tailored to meet the educational needs of the target audience. These chapters cover a wide range of topics, including petroleum, natural gas, coal, nuclear fission and fusion, batteries, fuel cells, photovoltaics, and hydrogen production and storage. Through this compilation, the authors hope to enlighten students and others interested in the field, despite acknowledging potential shortcomings in the material. The insights provided are expected to stimulate academic inquiry and broaden the understanding of sustainable energy practices among younger generations.
