This thesis explores the dispersion relation and spectral properties of surface gravity waves within the context of ocean engineering. The objective is to analyze the behavior and characteristics of these waves through a combination of theoretical and experimental approaches. Methodologically, the research was conducted over a four-year span, encompassing theoretical investigations, laboratory experiments, and the application of numerical simulations to derive meaningful insights into wave dynamics. The results indicate significant findings regarding the dispersion characteristics and spectral properties of surface gravity waves, contributing to a deeper understanding of wave behavior in various oceanic conditions. This work is part of a broader research project funded by the Research Council of Norway, highlighting its relevance to both academic and practical applications in oceanography and engineering. These findings underscore the complexity of wave interactions and their implications for maritime operations and environmental studies.
