Coal fly ash is an industrial by-product produced from coal combustion in thermal power plants. It is a complex anthropogenic material consisting of various minerals from different sources, leading to significant environmental concerns globally. This study aims to investigate the structures and properties of coal fly ash, with a focus on developing new recycling methods. The research employs X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis to determine the quantity of silica, aluminum, calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, titanium, and phosphorus oxides in the fly ash. Additionally, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) reveals both large and small microspheres, identified as ferrospheres, and the concentration of heavy metals was found in the order of Pb > Zn > Cu > Cr > Ni. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis identifies the presence of crystal phases such as quartz, albite, anorthite, and hematite in the fly ash. The findings highlight the composition and potential applications of coal fly ash, emphasizing the need for sustainable methods for its utilization.
