Urea CO(NH2)2 is an effective selective lixiviant for uranium from phosphate raw material. This study aimed to optimize the dissolution of uranium from El-Sebaiya phosphate ore using urea. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the conditions affecting the leaching of uranium. The results demonstrated that under optimized conditions, uranium could be extracted almost completely while maintaining the chemical integrity of the phosphate ore. The extraction process enables the preparation of highly pure uranium-free phosphoric acid from the leachate. Kinetic analysis through shrinking core models revealed that the leaching process is primarily controlled by chemical reactions. This research highlights the potential of using unconventional resources, specifically phosphate ores, for uranium extraction, addressing the increasing demand for uranium in the context of dwindling conventional uranium sources.
