This study focuses on the production of few-layer graphene sheets from graphite oxide (GO) through chemical and thermal reduction methods. The primary objective was to compare the effectiveness of various reducing agents, such as hydrazine hydrate, hydroxylammonium chloride, sodium borohydride, and sodium sulfite, in the chemical reduction process. A thorough characterization of the resulting material was conducted using techniques including elemental analysis, thermo-gravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. The findings indicate that thermal reduction, particularly when using hydrazine hydrate and hydroxylammonium chloride, achieves the highest levels of reduction efficiency for the graphene oxide suspensions. This research highlights the potential of these methods in developing graphene sheets on a larger scale, addressing challenges in producing high-quality graphene for various applications in electronics and materials science.
