This book presents the proceedings of the AMS-IMS-SIAM Joint Summer Research Conference on Dispersive Wave Turbulence, held at Mount Holyoke College, MA, from June 11-15, 2000. The objective of the conference was to draw together researchers from various disciplines to discuss the complex behavior of wave turbulence and energy transfers within large sets of waves. The methodology included analyzing individual mechanisms for energy transfer such as resonant triads and quartets, and exploring their implications on the average behavior of wave ensembles when subjected to external forcings and dissipation across different scales. The results revealed significant insights into the nonlinear interactions that govern energy cascades among disparate scales, which are vital for understanding the dynamics of large systems, including the atmosphere and ocean. The proceedings encapsulate the collaborative spirit of the conference, highlighting both friendly scientific disagreements and a shared wonder at the rich phenomena associated with wave dynamics.
