This document presents a comprehensive lecture plan and notes for the Theory of Metal Forming course, which is part of the curriculum for the 6th semester of B.Tech in Production Engineering at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla, Odisha, India. The primary objective is to provide students with a detailed understanding of metal forming processes and related stress analysis. The methodology includes a structured outline of lectures covering fundamental concepts such as stress, strain, and the behavior of materials under various forming conditions. Each lecture addresses specific topics, including the state of stress in three dimensions, Mohr's circle, yield criteria, and analysis techniques like upper and lower bound theory. Key findings emphasize the importance of understanding flow curves, friction, lubrication, and the mechanics behind deformation processes. The notes also encompass practical applications of theory to real-world scenarios in metal processing and highlight typical drawing processes utilized in manufacturing.
