This paper contains a comparison of creep-feed and shallow-cut grinding on ceramics with both neat oil and water-based grinding fluids. The objective was to investigate the effects of these fluids on grinding forces and specific energies during the processes. The methodology involved experimental tests comparing the two grinding methods while varying the fluid types. Results indicated that when a water-based grinding fluid was used in creep-feed grinding on ceramics, the vertical forces and specific energies increased markedly fast, leading to significant damage to the wheel surface. In contrast, creep-feed grinding with neat oil produced much lower grinding forces and specific energies, allowing the wheel to remain in good condition and minimizing damage to the ground surface. This finding contributes to a deeper understanding of the behaviors of grinding fluids in the grinding processes on both ceramics and metals.
