The survey results show that in Quan Trieu ward, the amount of disposable plastic waste accounts for about 35-40% of the total daily-life waste and tends to increase. The rapid classification of plastic waste includes plastic bags, styrofoam boxes, plastic bottles, and other plastic products. Two leading causes of this situation are identified: low awareness among residents and inadequate management of single-use plastic waste. Although most local residents are aware of this issue, they lack the habit of waste separation at the source and limiting plastic use. This study highlights the challenges of single-use plastic waste management for environmental protection in the locality. It proposes two main solutions aimed at both local residents and authorities, emphasizing the importance of establishing model neighborhoods for environmental protection, promoting business initiatives that minimize disposable plastic use, and enhancing plastic waste collection and recycling efforts. These measures aim to foster a more sustainable approach to plastic waste management in the community.
