Abstract

Language:

Additive manufacturing (AM) technology, commonly referred to as “layered manufacturing” or “3D printer technology,” has experienced rapid development in recent years. Unlike traditional manufacturing methods, AM operates on the principle of layer-based production, where materials are deposited layer by layer. This method offers several advantages, including material savings, cost reduction, the ability to produce complex parts without molds, and design flexibility. As a result, it has significantly impacted various sectors, particularly medical, aerospace, and automotive industries. Nonetheless, AM-produced parts face dimensional limitations. Recent studies suggest that combining metals produced via AM with traditional welding methods could mitigate these challenges, enabling the creation of larger parts. This study elucidates various welding methods and examines recent advancements in this area. Additionally, it outlines the different applications of AM technology and methodologies. The research further investigates welding parameters and their effects on the mechanical properties and microstructures of the resulting assemblies. By exploring these intersections of AM and welding technology, this work contributes to the ongoing innovation in manufacturing processes and material applications.
