The paper presents the results of experimental investigation of the chalcopyrite-pyrite concentrate oxidation in air. This study aimed to better understand the thermodynamic characteristics, kinetic parameters, and reaction mechanisms involved during the oxidation of polymetallic chalcopyrite-pyrite concentrates. The methodology included characterization of the initial sample and oxidation products using ICP-AES, XRD, and EDXRF methods. Furthermore, phase stability diagrams were constructed for the Cu-Fe-S-O system at varying temperatures of 25, 450, 650, and 900 °C. The equilibrium composition of the charge for the optimal oxidation process was calculated, and DTA-TG analysis was utilized to monitor the oxidation process. Kinetic parameters under non-isothermal conditions were determined using Kissinger and Ozawa methods. Findings indicated that the values of activation energies revealed that all stages of the oxidation process occur within the kinetic field. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the material characteristics and reactions involved in the oxidation process of copper concentrates, providing insights beneficial for pyrometallurgical copper production.
