This review comprehensively examines the physical and chemical aspects of leaching assessments, particularly focusing on stabilised municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash. The objective is to provide a detailed understanding of the leaching processes and the associated factors influencing contaminant release. The methodology involves a synthesis of existing research, experimental results, and case studies that illustrate various scenarios of leaching behavior under different environmental conditions. Key findings indicate that the leaching of heavy metals and other contaminants from stabilised MSWI fly ash is influenced by factors such as pH, time, and the chemical composition of the waste material. The results highlight the need for effective assessment and management strategies to mitigate the risks posed by potential leachates in the environment. This work emphasizes the importance of understanding leaching mechanisms to optimize waste stabilization procedures and ensure environmental protection.
