This study examines the leaching behavior and geochemical fractionation of trace elements in coal fly ash that has been hydraulically disposed. The objective is to assess the potential environmental impacts of coal fly ash disposal and to understand the bioavailability of trace elements under varying conditions. Methodology includes laboratory leaching tests to simulate different environmental scenarios, alongside chemical analysis using spectral methods to determine the concentration and forms of trace elements present. Results indicate that trace elements such as arsenic, lead, and cadmium are predominantly released in soluble forms, suggesting a significant risk for groundwater contamination. Furthermore, varying leachate pH and ionic strength were found to significantly affect the leaching efficiency of these trace elements. The findings contribute valuable data for the management of coal fly ash disposal practices and highlight the need for careful monitoring to mitigate environmental risks. This study ultimately emphasizes the necessity for stricter regulations on fly ash management to protect environmental and human health.
