This study presents the technological features of processes for the production of steelmaking slags intended for use in building materials and products, emphasizing the improvement of properties for refining slags and their stabilization through the introduction of alumina flux. The mechanism of slag stabilization via alumina flux is thoroughly discussed, highlighting the importance of controlled phase composition. Additionally, the preparation method for Portland cement clinker with a high content of iron oxides derived from slag with a precisely controlled phase composition is detailed. The analysis demonstrates that the processing of electric arc furnace (EAF) and basic oxygen furnace (BOF) slags is feasible and beneficial, particularly under modern steelmaking production conditions. However, challenges remain with ladle furnace (LF) slags that require effective stabilization due to their tendency to decompose into dust particles. Several methods are proposed to stabilize LF slags, aiming to reduce industrial waste's impact on the environment while enhancing the utility of steelmaking by-products. The findings indicate significant potential for improving industrial practices through the optimized phase composition of high-calcium-content slags.
