Abstract

Language:

This chapter provides an overview of the services rendered by consulting engineers within the mineral processing industry, emphasizing their vital role in plant design and construction. The objective is to outline the organizational structure of multi-discipline consulting firms and elaborate on their contributions to mineral process plants from initial concept through to operational start-up. The methodological approach includes a descriptive analysis of the consulting services, addressing the need for specialized expertise in developing new projects, expanding existing plants, and providing critical project-related advice. Results indicate that consulting engineering firms are indispensable for managing complex project requirements, filling gaps in client expertise, and ensuring a collaborative approach through joint ventures when necessary. The findings underscore the breadth of services offered by consulting engineers, which span design, site investigations, project budgeting, and overall strategic project management, contributing significantly to the successful execution of mineral processing projects.
