The article discusses the primary issues of the hardfacing of copper elements exposed to intense abrasive wear, gas-abrasive wear at high temperature, and in contact with liquid metal. The objective is to explore solutions that extend the service life of copper components in demanding environments. The methodology includes presenting test results on the surfacing of copper grade M1 using a self-shielded flux-cored wire, which provided a weld deposit of Fe14, and through plasma powder surfacing that yielded a weld deposit of Ni3, adhering to EN 14700 standards. The findings indicate that the surfacing processes using these materials effectively enhance the wear resistance of copper while addressing significant challenges due to the higher melting points and lower thermal conductivity of the deposited alloys. These results could contribute to improving the operational properties and longevity of copper elements used in high-temperature and abrasive conditions, ultimately reducing production costs associated with maintenance and replacement.
