Effective handling of water resources in dams is important for guaranteeing consistent water supply, flood management, and food security. This study assesses the reliability of Galma Dam reservoir operations using an explicit stochastic optimization model that incorporates natural uncertainties in hydrological inflows, water demands, and operating conditions. The model is based on a two-parameter Weibull probability distribution with a scale factor of 25.3522 and a shape factor of 0.55190, and is reformulated as a chance-constrained programming problem to determine system yield for specified demands. Input discharge levels are optimized to obtain maximum–minimum yields at reliability levels of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 85%. The results show a maximum yield of 669.890 million cubic meters (MCM) at 85% reliability and a minimum yield of 334.2666 MCM at 25% reliability, highlighting trade-offs between supply performance and reliability. The findings provide guidance for water resource managers and decision-makers in designing resilient and sustainable reservoir operation strategies under growing climatic and environmental uncertainties.
