The selection of leach reagents is critical in the extraction of scandium (Sc) from rare earth ores. The objective of this study was to identify effective leach reagents based on mineral composition and other practical considerations. The methodology involved conducting experiments using hydrochloric acid, vitriol, and nitric acid as leach reagents, analyzing leach density, leach liquid-to-solid ratio, temperature, time, and granule rate. Results indicated that the optimal leach rate for vitriol was 58.18%, for nitric acid was 50.73%, and for hydrochloric acid was 59.34%. Hydrochloric acid demonstrated the highest leach rate, thus selected as the preferred reagent for Sc extraction in this study. These findings provide valuable insights into the leaching process, contributing to the practical implementation of Sc extraction in the industry.
